Organisation

The Austrian Shippers' Council (ASC) consists of 25 members representing Austria's most important companies and industrial and economic branches.

Being a working group of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the legal representative of the entire Austrian business community, the ASC has access to all services and information provided by the Federal Economic Chamber and its professional groups without additional cost.

Originating from an organisation dealing with sea transport only, the ASC has been transformed into a platform for all transport service users in the fields of:

  • land transport: road and rail
  • shipping: sea and inland waterways

Activities and objectives
  • Give advice to Austrian Shippers in all transport related matters (practical and legal advice).
  • Represent Austrian industry at European level and get all relevant information from the European Institutions (Commission, European Parliament, Council) and federations.
  • Discuss issues the ASC is dealing with in the ESC and co-ordinate common action.
  • Strengthen the competitiveness of Austrian Trade and Industry by creating a favourable business environment for freight transport.
  • Shape national and European transport policy to the needs of transport service users.

Partnership with ESC

The Austrian Shippers' Council has been a member of the European Shippers' Council in Brussels for more than 25 years.

Membership in the ESC offers the chance to receive all relevant information regarding transport and logistics in an efficient manner and to have direct access to the Institutions of the European Union.

Our partnership with the ESC enables us to represent the needs and interests of Austrian shippers in an international forum for discussion and lobbying. At the same time it gives us the opportunity to exchange information and experiences with shippers from all over Europe and overseas.
