Organisation

The Portuguese Shippers’ Council - CPC (Conselho Português de Carregadores) – was founded in 1987 as a sub-sector of the Transport Activity Association, integrated in the Portuguese Industrial Association - AIP. Presently the CPC has 18 members, among them the major Portuguese industrial companies, with a substantial economic relevance in the national trade of products and raw-materials.

The CPC represents the interests of the Portuguese users of freight transport services.

Activities and objectives

The main activities and objectives of CPC are:

  • To protect the interests of the cargo owners in the transport of goods;
  • To monitor the development of legislation in the freight transport;
  • To maintain a dialogue with the Portuguese Government and with other Portuguese transport representative groups, aiming the promotion of efficiency, competitiveness and transparency in the freight transport services;
  • To provide to its associates all the relevant national and international information about the transport sector;
  • To promote Seminars/conferences and/or Trainning Courses;

Partnership with ESC

The Portuguese Shippers' Council is a member of the European Shippers' Council, thus joining forces with all the shippers in Europe. The ESC is our main provider of the relevant information regarding freight transport, and enables us to represent the interests of the Portuguese shippers in the European Union.
