Activities and Role
The Austrian Shippers' Council consists of 25 members representing Austria's most important companies and industrial and economic branches.
Being a working group of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber the ASC has access to all services and information offered by the Economic Chamber and its professional groups without additional costs.
Originating from an organisation, dealing with sea transport only, it has been transformed into a platform for all transport users and all means of transport.

The Austrian Shipper' Council has been a members of the European Shippers' Council in Brussels for more than 25 years. This offers the chance for Austrian Industry to receive all information regarding transport in an efficient and quick manner. On the other hand it offers the opportunity to have direct access to the organisations of the European Community. The Austrian Shippers' Council is represented in Brussels by the Secretary General and the Chairman.
Principal Goals
- Consultant to the Austrian industry and economy in all transport matters (practical and legal advice).
- Representing Austrian industry and economy in Brussels and gain all necessary information from commissions etc. Discuss Austrian transport issues with colleagues in the ESC and co-ordinate common actions.
- Shaping European transport to the needs and requirements of the transport users in Austria together with the European Shippers' Council. Liberalisation of freight markets.
Our Partnership with ESC
The partnership with the ESC gives us the chance to transport the needs and interests of Austrian shippers to an international forum for discussion and lobbying.
At the same time it gives us the opportunity to gain information from shippers in Europe and overseas and exchange experiences.
