Organisation
The Swedish Shippers' Council is the organisation for cargo-owning transport users in Sweden and was founded in 1966. Since 1982 it has been closely connected to the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. All cargo-owning members of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise are automatically also members of the Swedish Shippers Council. Other cargo-owning transport users are as indvidual companies.
Objectives
Our objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish Trade and Industry by creating as favourable conditions as possible for transport and efficient supply chains within the country as well as over and outside the borders.
Activities
To actively influence and force all instances both in Sweden, in EU and internationally within in the society - government, authorities, politicians and others - who decides on transport and transport related matters to come to solutions favourable for the industry. To influence the producers and providers of transport services - public or private - to adjust their rules and behaviour to the needs of the market. To act as a network for exchange of information and experiences among the members.
Partnership with ESC
The European Shippers' Council is a strong organisation for carrying through the voice and opionions of the European transport users. The Swedish Shippers' Council takes an active part in ESC's work and regards ESC as its main channel and best tool to approach and influence EU and other European institutions.
Deregulation of all transport markets is the most important goal for Swedish Industry. ESC has and will continue to be a driving force to achieve that goal.
