Shipper Forum 2002 - Short Sea Shipping & Security

The seventh annual Shipper Forum, organised by the European Shippers Council is to be held on 10 October in Athens. The key themes this year will be working solutions for short sea shipping and security in the maritime supply chain and the forum nature of the event will enable attendees to get involved in the discussions.
2003 is going to be an important and challenging year for the global transport industry as Europe and the United States consider new, increased, security measures and the Shipper Forum will enable a meeting of minds intending to open discussion from the very best in the supply chain bringing customers and suppliers to discuss the issues which could have a huge impact on the way they conduct business.
Nicloette van der Jagt, Secretary General, European Shippers’ Council said; ‘Over the last six years the ESC annual conference has established itself as one of the leading industry events and this year, with the imminent arrival of some of the biggest changes in global transport ever seen, it is more important than ever that a common understanding of everyone’s responsibilities in the supply chain is reached.’
Speakers at this year’s event include Mick Jackson, the Freight Transport Association’s Head of Logistics, Ger Nieuwpoort of the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Professor Harilaos Psaraftis, professor of Maritime Transport at the National Technical University of Athens. The Chairman will be John Guy of Merlin Corporate Communications, UK.
The day will be divided into two sessions, the first of which will focus on short sea shipping, the second on maritime security and FTA members can take advantage of the reduced fee of, EURO 476.
